Here is a sure-shot list of Hindi movies which went beyond being entertainment. These movies went deep to redefine the phenomena called the ‘big fat Indian wedding’ and took it to a different level.

Hum Aapke Hai Kaun

Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan created quite a paradigm shift with their bold costumes in this film. Even now, this movie has remained a hot favorite for all the to-be wed couples.

Hum Saath SaathHain can be called the king of Bollywood weddings, with three rich and happy wedding ceremonies decorating the stage! Again, the costumes never cease to amaze us with all the elaborate and shimmery designs.

KabhiKhushiKabhiGham

Being a Karan Joharfamily drama,this film had romance, foreign locations, good music, star power and most importantly wedding. Shah Rukh- Kajolelope and have a simple wedding affair, which is made up for after the tearful reunion with their family and the wedding arrangements for the younger couple’s wedding.

DilwaleDulhania Le Jayenge

Another Shah Rukh-Kajol classic romance, this time they sweep us off our feet with their family sentiment and the mantra of star-crossed lovers. They fall in love but realize that they have to find a way out to convince Kajol’s father to believe his daughter’s love. The family drama goes on in the background with the accurate portrayal of wedding rituals and emotions.

ShahidKapoor and AmrithaRao show the true essence of a South Asian wedding.As they come closer for the various ceremonies of their arranged marriage, they fall in love and support each other.Though their wedding ceremony isn’t much to show, several pre-marriage customs are focused on throughout the entire movie.

The perfect definition of the new age weddings, with all the professionalism and settings galore! Anushka and Ranveer bring out the corporate side of weddings with a romantic touch, and we get to see the backstage of those picturesque wedding events.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

The best example of a destination wedding! KalkiKoechlin’s wedding unites old friends and brings back the clash of perceptions into the picture, all in the backdrop of a fabulous wedding themed as a fusion of traditional rituals and modern lives.
